Fishing Reports 1 | Fishing Reports 2 Biscayne Bay: If you are able to time the weather patterns to work in your advantage Biscayne Bay can be very productive working grounds for all your Bonefish chasing needs. The key to your success lies primarily on water temperature. Bonefish are most active in water temperatures above 72 Degrees. During these winter months cold fronts can drag the bay water temperatures below this critical number and force the Bonefish to refuge to deeper warmer water. This is why you will often see Bonefish in large schools waking in 2-4 feet of water. So what this means is if your temperature gauge is indicating colder water you should move toward the edge of the flat and begin your search. The majority of Permit are still hanging out on the offshore wreck located outside Biscayne Bay. However, there are a few lost schools hanging out on the West side of the bay. These are not out typical spring time numbers but if you are lucky to stumble across one a quarter sized crab will certainly entice him to do a little drag screaming action for ya like my buddy Blair often says on his television show Addictive Fishing. If its Tarpon you are after you should primarily turn your focus north ward to Government Cut Canal. Most of the numbers will be found in areas like the cut due to deeper warmer water and a constant abundance of bait fish so they don’t have to travel far for their meals. Crabs, Mullet, and Pinfish, and Pilchards are the baits of choice for these Jurassic creatures. Tarpon can also be caught on Rapala X-Raps in bright colors in Flamingo and the Everglades National Park. I prefer the XR-12 size the best Islamorada: While fishing down in the Fishing Capital of the World as we sometimes call it I have been concentrating mostly on Snook in the Backcountry Island areas. One spot particular would be off of little rabbit key. However keep in mind this spot is hammered every single day so if your going to go try to release all your fish so we don't over fish that fun little spot. Islamorada has also been pretty fun offshore for Sailfish and Kingfish with live pilchards and ballyhoo. One little tip for everyone would be remember that most charter fishing guides are off the water by 3:00 P.M. and normally on their way home they dump their bait. Those magical hours afterwards have been some of the best action I have ever seen HOT SPOTS: Fender Point Burger King Flat Turkey Point HINT: Work the west side of the Bay. Because of the darker bottom you can expect 1-3 Degrees warmer water temperature than the East side. | Plum TV South Florida Fishing Report March 28th Although spring winds continue to make fishing tough in many areas, Captain Rich Smith, reports that snook and redfish fishing has significantly improved in the everglades. Large snook over 30 inches were eating Rapala X-raps in Whitewater Bay, Hells Bay and Pearl bay. Fly fishing, on the other hand, remained difficult. Unless, of course, you find a good spot out of the wind. The same goes for Biscayne Bay, with ......... | Plum TV South Florida Fishing Report March 19th According to Captain Rich Smith, fishing in Biscayne Bay has been tough over the last week. He has found more bonefish outside of Elliot Key. Permit are still on the offshore wrecks for the most part, but should move into the bay in the next couple weeks. Most guides are attributing slow fishing in the everglades to the transitional period between winter and spring. As water levels and temperatures stabilize over the next week, fishing should improve....... | Plum TV South Florida Fishing Report March 12th Captain Rich Smith has been throwing live shrimp and crabs at bonefish in Biscayne Bay. He is having the most luck on the leeward side of the islands when the wind is blowing. Bones are showing up in schools of 2-10 on low, incoming tides. Last week in the Everglades, one of his clients boated three tarpon over 80 pounds and lost several more. Snook and redfish are biting on Rapala twitch-raps and Bass Assassin eels in the backcountry. | Plum TV South Florida Fishing Report March 6th Out in the bay, Captain Rich Smith is catching bonefish on Burger King flat and at Cutter Bank off Elliot Key. The calmer the day, the better. Tarpon are starting to get active in the mouths of the creeks in the everglades, along with snook and redfish. He’ s using brown and orange flies, imitating Mayan Cichlades. The good news…fishing on the flats should only get better over the next month as temperatures warm.--Tee Clarkson To check out this full report and other weekly reports be sure to check out Plum TV's New Fishing Report section Click Here |

| Plum TV South Florida Fishing Report April 3, 2008 Captain Rich Smith reports catching “tons” of trout, ladyfish, jacks and mangrove snapper in the backcountry areas of Whitewater Bay. Drifting live ladyfish on a 4/0 circle hook with a ½ ounce egg sinker has been effective for grouper up to 40 lbs in Middle Cape and Little Shark River. Nice schools of bonefish have been moving through Midnight Pass and Arsenicker Key on incoming tides and a few permit have been hanging around Petrol Point, outside of Elliot Key. It’s just a matter of time before the tarpon fishing really gets going. To check out this full report and other weekly reports be sure to check out Plum TV's New Fishing Report section Click Here |

| Plum TV South Florida Fishing Report May 8, 2008 Captain Rich Smith has been seeing bones and permit all over Biscayne Bay of late. Large schools of permit are showing up inside Midnight Pass and on the snake leading into Caesar’s Creek. Cutter Bank has been the most consistent for bonefish. Fishermen staked off at Curtis Point reported seeing a few schools of tarpon heading south, but the fish were apparently not in an eating mood. Rich and his clients also had some fun the other day with lemon and blacktip sharks in the 5-9 foot range To check out this full report and other weekly reports be sure to check out Plum TV's New Fishing Report section Click Here |
